Here’s the weekend’s progress on my Hunley version 4.0 submarine book about Andan Cly and his crew having a damp misadventure in a Texian-occupied New Orleans, plus Bonus! guerrilla warfare, other assorted historic pirates, and an octoroon madam who moonlights as a Union spy.
Project: Ganymede
Deadline: November 1, 2010
New words written: 1310 (bah)
Present total word count: 70,036 words
Things accomplished in fiction: Checked out the Ganymede.
Next up: Take it for a test run.
Things accomplished in real life: Day-job work; went to Best Buy because printer suddenly decided it was out of ink; quick Target run for mailing supplies and essentials; went to PetCo to pick up fish supplies (out of de-chlorination chemicals); came home and printed out contracts (finally) plus an unrelated agreement; packed up some books to various assorted people; toted the whole batch of stuff down to the postal shop and mailed it; did laundry (situation was becoming desperate); crashed.
Other: It’s a shit word count, yes. But in my defense, see above. I’ve barely been home all day, and when I was, my time was devoted to day-job work instead. Because it’s paying my rent right now, that’s why.
Other, part deux: I might try to scrape out a little more creative output tonight, but it’s after 7:00 p.m. here and frankly I’m kind of wiped out. There’s only so much “me” to go around, you know?
