Yes, yes. I’m a posting fool today, I know. But I’ve also been back at work, and battling the ongoing catchup that lands every time I’m out of town for a few days. Therefore, while today’s word count is pretty respectable, it’s less delightful when one considers that it’s been four days since I wrote anything at all.

Anyway. Here are today’s stats on my second urban fantasy adventure — this time with my neurotic undead thief, her shady agent, a cigar box full of magical penis bones, a mentally ill former NASA engineer-turned-sorceress, and the continued fabulosity of a Cuban drag queen:

Project: Hellbent
Deadline: August 9, 2010
New words written: 3201 (not bad)
Present total word count: 47,069 words

Things accomplished in fiction: A quasi-reenactment of the bell tower scene from Vertigo, only this time with a deranged sorceress, a very confused vampire, and an off-duty drag queen in commando garb instead of Jimmy Stewart.

Things accomplished in real life: Noodled with day-job project for kind of a ridiculous amount of time, but I needed to make sure I got a bunch of footnotes turned into endnotes and didn’t screw anything up while I was at it; finished unpacking from DC trip; exchanged many important emails, which actually ate up most of the day that wasn’t eaten by day-job work or writing.

Other: OMG HOW COOL IS THIS??? I love it. Click the link to see the steampunk vest a very crafty woman made – inspired by (and featuring groovy details from) Boneshaker.

Total Official Word Count of 2010: 70,786 words
