As some of you noticed, this site went down for a bit today. For (I think) the first time ever, I exceeded my bandwidth; but my intrepid webmaster (and old friend) Greg sorted it out as soon as he could, and voila – once again I am ready to blog.
So here goes. First! Some loose bullet points:
- Apex Books hosts a summer of love – Offering digital titles on the cheap, and bargain-basement discounts on one feature book a week. This week’s feature is Aegri Somnia – a Stoker-nominated anthology including the story “Wishbones” by yours truly. Go check it out!
- Coilhouse #5 is on sale now – Speaking of awesome literary productions, this magazine is killer every single issue – and this one comes with all sorts of bells and whistles (fold out goodies! paper dolls!)
- The Locus Award for Best Science Fiction Novel – This was waiting for me at the University Book Store. I picked it up while I was out running errands this afternoon, and it is so very shiny and pretty, and I hugged it so much that the cat got jealous.
And now, here are today’s stats on my second urban fantasy adventure — this time with my neurotic undead thief, her shady agent, a cigar box full of magical penis bones, a mentally ill former NASA engineer-turned-sorceress, and the continued fabulosity of a Cuban drag queen:

Things accomplished in fiction: Broke the 50K mark! A meaningless milestone, except that I vowed to myself that I would achieve it by the end of June, and LOOKIT. Things accomplished in real life: Wrapped up troublesome day-job project and sent it off to zee boss; went to University District; picked up fish supplies and four silver disco mice for the cat to nom; cleaned the fish tank; argued with the cat about where I was going to work.
