What fried brains’ll get you

Yes yes. Monday I said I was working on a prologue for Bloodshot and of course I meant Boneshaker. That’s what I get for having two “B” titles as works-in-progress. Anyway, today I wrapped up a short epilogue to work with my short prologue, for a grand total of about 3000 words added to the whole manuscript. That’s not so much in the grand scheme of things, really — maybe fifteen pages — just a little starter and a little wind-up for the story. And since I’m going to take out at least that much material in rewrites over the next two weeks, that’s all right.

Fiction Things Accomplished: Bookended the story rather nicely, or so I’d like to hope. Ended the tale with the same character and the same setting, with very different contexts and behavior.

Real Life Things Accomplished: Agreed to outright madness in the form of teaching a day-long writing workshop for the Hugo House this coming January (details on that to come later); did two huge loads of laundry; went to drug store for a few essentials.

Reason for Stopping: I’m done with the bonus content for now. I’m pretty fortunate this round in that — for all the things that need fixing with Boneshaker — I don’t need to write a bunch of connective scenes or additional material. Most of what needs to happen is surgical removal of scenes and gentle augmenting of thematic elements.
