Quality time at the Point Defiance Zoo

This beluga whale will sing to you his songs of love. They will sound like opera being sung through a funnel, at the bottom of a bucket. You will fall head over heels. Your parents will disapprove.
So I took a whole bunch of pictures, and if you click the little link at the bottom of this entry, you’ll find a rather fat assortment of them. Go on. Do it. Damp snuggles and mellow musk ox await you, now with Bonus! Spain the Cat macro.
[ETA: We spent most of our time hanging around the aquarium; we arrived somewhat late in the afternoon and were compelled to concentrate our fascination on the wetter corners of the park.]

I liked the belugas, I think they are marvelous animals.
And that barn owl, so cool to actually see one (we have one or maybe a couple that use the corner of our house as a look-out for mice. I suspect they live in an abandoned house further east.

At the beluga tank in the Atlanta aquarium, when I visited in February, they had an informational video rolling in a kiosk and Sigur Ros on the PA. Definitely apropos.
