Upstairs — which is to say, “on the roof” — there are workmen stomping around and hitting things with hammers. It would seem that several other residents of this-here building have been having issues with the heating system, and the stomping/hitting is intended to remedy the situation. Their efforts have thoroughly horrified the cat, and the constant boom of imminent ceiling calamity is giving me a headache.

Also, the heating unit in the bathroom has begun to hack and swear like it’s choking on a drunken sailor; so either my loo is haunted by Sam Kinison, or the workmen are having some issues up there.

At this very moment, I’m trying to convince gmail that yes, it can too email some pictures to a very nice man at Weird Tales, but gmail isn’t cooperating. [Edit: Wait. I think I've got it now.] And speaking of that fine magazine, if you’ve ever had an idle interest in subscribing — but you’ve never felt an honest compulsion to pick it up — there’s no time like the present. From now through Dec. 21, first-time subscribers can take a trial run: home delivery of the next three issues, including their 85th anniversary extravaganza, for just ten bucks.

I’m just sayin’.

Anyway, I’ve got a morning filled with oddball professional catch-ups (mailing story contracts, signing papers, logging onto invoice websites even if it kills me) and freelancery, so I’m going to log off and try to make this a Friday of productivity. Have a wonderful weekend, everyone, and I’ll be back to catch up with the friends list and the blogroll later this evening.
