Nobody panic. There is no need for alarm, nor is there any need for wild speculation or vicious rumors to abound, despite the fact that I am not technically making this post from LiveJournal or any of its pertinent clients. I’m not quitting LJ or running away to join the circus, and I’m not on the cusp of launching into a tirade against the blogging service that has been, all in all, quite good to me for the last six years.
Arbitrary journal suspensions, Trigger-Happy Flaggergate, crappy LJ Abuse management, and OMG TEH RUSKIEZ R GONNA EET US be damned, LiveJournal was my first internet home and it shall remain a firm and happy fixture in my online comfort zone.
This having been said, I’ve recently and thoroughly revamped my proper authorial domain and I intend to instigate cross-posting, effective as of pretty much now.
For the last year or two, I’ve mostly treated the domain as a repository for reviews, press releases, and word count tallies for ongoing projects; but as the site has begun to glean more incoming foot traffic*, I’ve been feeling the need to shine it up a touch. This urge has been further reinforced by the fact that I’ll soon have a second project available from Subterranean Press, but my old layout spoke only to my titles from Tor. On the one hand, I’m really going to miss the gorgeous Palencar artwork; but on the other, I’m glad to have a little more room to spread out. Now CheriePriest.com looks less like a rarely maintained blog and more like a proper homepage.
And … this is the part where I sheepishly confess that if you subscribe to both my livejournal and the LJ syndicated feed for CheriePriest.com … you’re about to receive some unpleasant doubling up on your RDA of yours truly. For this I do apologize, and I regret to admit that the situation is beyond my control — except for the following advice: Unfriend the syndicated feed and join my LJ friends list if you’re not on it already. That oughta fix it.
So, never fear! I’ll still be reading my friends list like always, and I’ll be responding to LJ comments with the same haphazard irregularity I always display. And, uh, by all means feel free to come poke around the new digs. Some minor tweakings are yet to take place, but for the most part, this is what it’s going to look like for awhile.
* To be more specific, traffic which was not spawned by my LiveJournal homies — but by people who’ve first stumbled across my books, articles, or stories. I love my LiveJournal, oh yes I do, but I need to keep in mind that not everyone who takes an interest in my fiction does so through that network.

Nice new look. I hadn’t visited chriepriest.com for a while, but I like it. :-)

The new design is quite lovely! I loved the old one, too, of course, but this is very easy on the eyes (or at least my eyes).
As for the decision to use your site more than your LJ, I totally respect and back up the decision — I’ve done the same with my own domain — but I’m glad you aren’t packing up the old home anytime soon just because of a little change. I love LJ a lot too, I’ve been there for seven years and it was my first Internet home as well.
I’ll definitely continue to stop by! :)

I like this much better than the old site - not to say that the old site wasn’t lovely, but change is good. Also, I can finally comment again! (I had problems with it in the recent past, then gave up altogether.)

Thanks guys! And I’m happy to see comments again, myself. I rarely ever receive any on this page, and I’d forgotten that there were a few issues with the field.
Score yet another one!

I heart this muchly. Looks fantastic.
I though about moving my duck over to make it my main page for my website, but there is still the issue of updating.
I’m such a bad writer…

Thank you Monti! For some reason, your comment got stuck in the “needs moderating” queue … don’t ask me why … but anyway, I fixed it now :)
