It’s been a good, solid work day. Mid-afternoon I hit a few speed bumps in the form of poorly ironed-out plot logic, but once that was repaired, things were smooth-sailing. In accordance with yesterday’s prediction, the crap did verily hit the fan and tomorrow it’s only going to get worse for our lady adventurer.
That’s pretty much my goal for this one. I want it to open with a strong world/contextual/character-crafting element, then escalate promptly (20 pages deep into the novel is pretty prompt, I think), and continue to soar upward to wild action/survival horror/stakes-upping frenzy in a huge, sweeping arc that more or less sustains throughout the narrative.
It’s a good thing I’m not irrationally ambitious.

Well the mere tidbits you’re giving out are thoroughly enticing enough for me to say I’m quite interested in how this turns out!

Haha! Thanks. It’s not really *that* super-secret or anything; it’s just not a project I’m getting paid for … it’s largely for fun, though obviously I’d love to sell it at some point.
I’m trying to squeeze it in between paying gigs. So I’ve gotta write quick!

Fun projects are always enjoyable and tend to be the most satisfying in my experience!
I’m glad that I can comment again, by the way. I don’t know what was up with your site before that I kept getting a blank page when I’d try to submit a comment. It made me sad and then I just stopped trying.
